Trump Vows Firm Response Following Beheading of Indian Motel Owner

President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the violent killing of an Indian-origin motel supervisor in Texas recently.

"The time for being soft on these undocumented criminals is OVER under my administration," Trump stated in a update on his social media account.

Background of the Tragic Attack

Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, fifty years old, was reportedly assaulted with a machete by his colleague the accused in front of his family after a dispute over a broken washing machine.

The suspect, who is now in custody, has been accused of murder.

The President’s Response

President Trump promised that Mr Cobos-Martinez "faces prosecution to the fullest extent of the law" and is to be "indicted for murder in the most severe charge."

He also criticized the federal government, stating that Mr Cobos-Martinez had been previously arrested for several offenses, including accused child endangerment, but was "released back into society because Cuba declined to accept his return."

Immigration Status of the Accused

As per federal records, the suspect is an unauthorized migrant with a deportation order of deportation from the US.

He was allegedly in detention at a facility in Dallas but was released on an order of supervision in January after Cuba "refused to accept him due to his background."

Victim’s Background

The victim, who was from the southern Indian state of South India, worked at the a local motel in Dallas.

He attended school and college in Bengaluru, India, before moving to the US in 2018. His son just finished secondary school and is planning to begin college.

Details of the Attack

The attack took place on 10 September. Police received a "knife attack call" and determined through investigation that the accused had attacked the victim repeatedly with an blade.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer on Mr Cobos-Martinez at the local jail, where he is currently in custody.

Aftermath

Nagamallaiah’s funeral were conducted on 13 September in Texas, with the presence of loved ones.

A donation drive initiated to aid his loved ones has raised over $321,000 so far.
