Called “a US disaster,” prosecutors laid out a chilling narrative of the accused murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

A Premeditated Attack

Per the district attorney’s office, Tyler Robinson grew overwhelmed with hatred for Kirk and his political views. Authorities allege Robinson premeditated the murder in just over a week after learning Kirk would be speaking at Utah Valley University.

Digital Communications Uncover Confession

The state say Robinson dispatched his housemate messages admitting to the crime. In a particular exchange, Robinson reportedly wrote, “I seized the chance to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”

“Delete this exchange,” the suspect allegedly texted in a later communication.

Firearm Information

Authorities say a firearm owned by Robinson’s grandfather was employed in the shooting. The gun was later discovered in a adjacent field wrapped in a towel.

Three bullets were found with the rifle, every one engraved with inflammatory messages.

Ideological Motives

Based on accounts from Robinson’s mother, the suspect had recently become more political and begun leaning toward progressive views, supporting gay and trans rights.

The accused had also begun seeing his housemate, a man who was undergoing a gender transition, which allegedly caused conflict within his household.

Arrest and Charges

The suspect was arrested on September 12 and charged with first-degree murder. Prosecutors announced they will pursue the capital punishment.

Authorities indicate Robinson’s own parent recognized him from news photos of the shooter and contacted investigators.

Legal Proceedings

The suspect had an initial court appearance on Tuesday, with a preliminary proceeding scheduled for September 29.

Prosecutors emphasized that the information shared are merely allegations at this stage and acknowledged the grief of Kirk’s family.

“Like all murders, the needless taking of Charlie Kirk’s life has devastated the lives of those he cherished,” stated the prosecutor.
