New England Equal Best Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Win Over New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five touchdowns during the current campaign
New England matched their longest winning run from the Brady period as they defeated division rivals the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Drake Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the New England's lead at the top of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to conclude the Jets' first possession
But the home team answered in the second period as the rookie ran in two short rushing scores before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to push the score to 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Justin Fields connected with Metchie toward the end of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the triumph
